erase again, and then
a poppy blooms.

I am restless.
Things are calling me away.
My hair is being pulled by the stars again.

Spring Dawn

In indolent spring
I sleep past dawn.

Startled awake, all about
I hear the clamor of birds.

Remembering last night's
tempest of wind and rain,

I wonder how many new blooms
lie broken on the ground.

- Meng Hau Jan (689 - 740AD)
