Marie Bortolotto 2019

Don’t just stand there
 with your hair turning grey,
Soon enough the seas
will sink your little island.
So while there is still
the illusion of time
set out for another shore.
No sense packing a bag.
You won’t be able
to lift it into your boat.
Give away all your collections.
Take only new seeds and an old stick.
Send out some prayers
on the wind before you sail.
Don’t be afraid.
Someone knows you’re coming.
An extra fish has been salted.

- Mono (Sono) Santacroce (1928 - 1995)

The monkey is reaching
For the moon in the water.
Until death overtakes him
He'll never give up.
If he'd let go the branch and
Disappear in the deep pool,
The whole world would shine
With dazzling pureness.

- Hakuin

...one of my favourite songs by Leonard Cohen...

"...if it be your will
that a voice be true
from this broken hill
I will sing to you
from this broken hill
all your praises they shall ring
if it be your will
...to let me sing..."

- Leonard Cohen, Canadian singer, songwriter,
poet, novelist. 1934 - 2016

The deep parts of my life pour outward,
as if the river shores were opening out.
It seems that things are more like me now,
that I can see farther into images.
I feel closer to what language can't reach
with my senses, as with birds,
I climb into the windy heaven,
out of the oak, and in the ponds
broken off from the sky,
my feeling sinks, as if standing on fishes.

- Rainer Maria Rilke, Poet, 1875 - 1926
